At Repsol, we streamline the use of energy, which is why we have implemented a Corporate Energy Management System.
It is very important to remember that efforts to increase efficiency and reduce emissions are a responsibility shared by all, and must be subject to the actions not only of companies, but also of the citizens themselves. To achieve a significant improvement in efficiency, all of the employees at Repsol are committed to reaching a single goal: energy efficiency.
In each stage of energy production from sources such as oil and gas, there is significant consumption of these raw materials and, as a result, energy. Oil refining is one of the most consuming stages and at Repsol each year we constantly reduce the levels used by applying innovation and through our Corporate Energy Management System.
At the Repsol Technology Centre, we also undertake a great many projects that seek to monitor and optimise the different processes, from units that contribute to the production of petrol and diesel fuels, to those responsible for reducing the sulphur and aromatics content of the fuels, hydrogen production plants, sulphur recovery plants and petrochemical and associated chemicals plants.
This is possible thanks to a joint effort by researchers from the Repsol Technology Centre and collaboration with universities and other research centres.
At Repsol, we use smart energy to build a balanced energy future, helping our clients to reduce their energy bill and CO2 emissions. We conduct research into biofuels, develop alternative energy sources for transportation - like electric energy and AutoGas - and we even bring clean, efficient solutions to the home by combining different energies, such as SolarGas.
We also work on processes to capture and eliminate CO2 from the atmosphere, whether by carbon dioxide fertilisation of plant species or by geological storage, as these will be key processes in contributing to a safe, competitive and sustainable energy supply, both socially and environmentally.
